Statement

I have been a commercial photographer for about 25 years, shooting covers for every major book publisher. Recently I have started to concentrate on my fine art.
My still lifes are shot with a vintage toy camera that is entirely made of plastic. The primative lens creates a soft, small area of focus and the resulting images often look like photographs from the 19th century. I prefer to photograph things that have a little history, whether they are bird's nests or antique cups. I sepia-tone the silver gelatin prints, adding patina to these found objects.

I became interested in landscape photography when I had a country house in upstate New York. For me, landscapes are evocative, taking me back to a time in childhood when life seemed more romantic and less complicated. I shoot with an old camera, scan the prints, then print the images on digital water color paper.
